ASTM Standard MV ABC Aerial Bundled Cable

3-layer systems used on tree wires or spacer cables, manufactured, tested and labeled according to ICEA S-121-733 (standard for tree wires and satchel support spacer cables). The 3-layer system consists of a conductor shield layer (layer #1) and 2 covering layers (layer #2 and layer #3).

    Application

    Tree wire is an overhead insulated cable used for primary and secondary overhead distribution where space or right-of-way is limited, such as in alleys or narrow corridors. The installation method is the same as that of bare overhead wires. It can effectively avoid direct short circuit and instant flashover with other objects.

    Tree WireWhen used in tree wire power systems, its installation and spacing on the insulator are similar to bare wire or covered overhead wire, which are flat structures. Self-supporting wires (such as ACSR) are a typical example of this type of installation.

    Spacer CableWhen used in the spacerl cable power supply system, its installation spacing is consistent, in a diamond shape structure, maintained by the spacer hardware. Spacers and cable assemblies are supported by bare messengers such as bare aluminum-clad steel, ACSR, OPGW or galvanized steel wire. Spacer cable assemblies take up very little space and require only the narrowest right-of-way or corridor.
